The US Federal Government’s Costly Legacy

“Government is not the solution to our problem; government IS the problem.” — Ronald Reagan
The executive, the legislative, and the judicial branches of our federal government have overstepped their constitutional bounds, which have led to the worst partisan politics in memory, ineffectiveness, record low approval ratings, and legislation that has helped produce major socioeconomic and ethnic division in our country.
The US Federal Government has given us a nine-million word US Tax Code written by accountants; a $9 trillion federal deficit left to ours and future generations; record foreign trade deficits; a record low dollar; excess regulations that make it hard for small and medium size companies to compete; they have not implemented existing immigration legislation that has produced an enormous problem; approved the taking of hundreds of billions of dollars from Social Security to reduce annual federal budget deficits; they have not produced a comprehensive national energy plan, stopped oil exploration on certain federal lands, their regulations have stopped much needed refinery construction and pipeline construction, which has left our country with a greater reliance on questionable foreign sources of oil from Russia, Venezuela, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and other Middle Eastern countries.
They have also overstepped their constitutional bounds by usurping states rights. The Cato Institute says that $2 trillion of the US Federal Government’s $2.8 trillion annual budget should be left to the states.
The United States Government’s Middle East policies and involvement in the “land for peace” process has empowered terrorist organizations that are now a major threat to Israel, the United States, moderate Middle Eastern countries and many other nations.
The war on terror has been the excuse used for legislation that has stripped Americans of their constitutional rights and infringed on personal privacy in the name of national security.
President Bush is calling on Israel to give their land to the Palestinians while endorsing statehood. He has led our country into a very costly war and construction project in Iraq.
It is time for change in Washington our survival depends upon it!
