On Iran: The Wrong Message is Being Sent

July 26, 2007 – 5:43 pm

WASH—Thursday, July 26, 2007— U.S. diplomats have struck a deal with the world’s foremost sponsor of terrorism to team together and try to stabilize Iraq. By doing so they have sent a message to the world-terrorism pays.

U.S. Ambassador Ryan Crocker said the recent meeting with his Iranian counterpart resulted in the U.S. accepting an Iranian proposal to set up a cooperation committee on the security of Iraq-but not before Crocker gave a piece of his mind over Iran’s behavior to Iranian Ambassador Hassan Kazemi Qomi. Crocker says the committee, which will include Iraqi officials, is expected to focus on fighting al Qaeda in Iraq, securing Iraq’s borders, and controlling violent militia.
